A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
Shenelle Spence
I have been a Registered Early Childhood Educator since 2018.
Before that, I have been gaining experience in the field working with all ages (infants - school age)
Previously, I have worked, volunteered and successfully completed placements in centres, classrooms, nurseries, home daycares and as a nanny.
This has given me the opportunity to take different learning styles, teaching methods and environment layouts that I believe are most beneficial for the children and incorporated it into my daycare.
I have my CPR & First Aid certification and updated police record check.
I am mainly English but offer a bilingual beginner French program during our learning time.
PROGRAM
Forest Friends Daycare provides a preschool-based curriculum to help prepare children for kindergarten.
Our day is planned so children get the chance to learn as a group during circle time, free-play and while outdoors. Throughout the day, they are also given multiple opportunities to learn & explore individually through child-led sensory play, hands-on tasks and self care.
Forest Friends Daycare encourages children to learn life skills both through pretend/imaginative play and through real-life opportunities. Incorporating key practices from both Play-Based and Montessori learning styles.
Ages of children range from toddler to preschool. This gives the older children the opportunity to lead by example, learn a sense of responsibility, patience and respect towards their younger peers.
It also gives toddlers the opportunity to learn by the example of the older children. They will spark quick interest in independent tasks, and encourage communication skills.
I strive to deliver quality care to all families keeping the children's best interest in mind. I will provide new, exciting, and engaging activities based on their individual/group interests and abilities.
